My Top 20 Party Desserts

Okay, so I entertain quite a lot. I love having people over, I love cooking for people. And I love desserts. When I am having guests over planning my desserts is always my most fun part.

If I'm having a large gathering when I plan desserts, I plan it so that I can make desserts on different days, for instance, Madarica needs to be made 3 days before you can eat it, Ice Cream cakes I can make a week or two before, Cheesecakes up to 2 days before. I try not to leave all my desserts to be made the night before. 

I pride myself on my desserts, I have made many, many desserts since I got married 15 years ago. I will try most recipes as they are written at first, then if I need to change it, I make it again, with the changes, usually the changes are slight reductions in sugar, not for the health benefits, I just don't appreciate really sweet desserts.

I love my baked cheesecakes, I find I have found the recipe to the perfect cheesecake and now I base all my recipes around it. My cheesecakes are baked, but they are so creamy and so delicious, I just love them, and you should try them.

My Pavlova is a crowd pleaser, it is so easy to make, feeds many, and the recipe is requested often.

These desserts are in no particular order, I just love making these when people are coming over.

1. Margarita Cheesecake

This is my very own recipe, you will not find it anywhere else. I first made this for a Mexican night I had at a friends house. Absolutely delicious, I love it.

2. Madarica

Okay I grew up on this cake, my aunt used to make it all the time for parties, so once I got married, I got a lesson from her on how to make it and I have been making it myself ever since. This cake gets easier and easier to make, the more you make it, it is well worth the effort. I love adding Croatian rum to it, tastes absolutely amazing. Probably one of my more time consuming desserts, but as I said well worth the effort.

3. Lemon Meringue Pie

This to I first tasted at an aunts house as a child, something I never forgot. Then one day I was having friends over and I knew one of them loved Lemon Meringue Pie, so I thought I'd try it. I have been making this same recipe ever since. This is my kind of dessert, I love it.

4. Pavlova

My husband one year for his birthday requested a Pavlova to be his birthday cake. I had never made one before, as I really didn't like Pavlova. After searching for quite a while I came across this recipe. I now love Pavlova and this gets made a lot, I don't even look for other recipes for Pavlova anymore. A real crowd pleaser, and it goes very quickly.

5. New York Cheesecake

I always thought I didn't like baked cheesecakes, I always found them dry and hard to swallow. Then I came across this recipe, I tried making it and I have been converted into a cheesecake lover ever since. This baked cheesecake is now the base for all my cheesecakes. This cheesecake is creamy, it is tangy, it is so amazingly good. I honestly love every single creamy bite I have of this. This to me is a perfect baked cheesecake.

6. Raspberry Bavarois

These beautiful little desserts only get made when raspberries are in season. They look absolutely amazing and each and every spoonful is a pleasure to eat.

7. Chocolate Cheesecake

This cheesecake I tend to make if lovers of chocolate are coming over, it nearly always makes an appearance for Easter. It is creamy and delicious, again a perfect cheesecake.

9. Chocolate Mousse

A perfect chocolate mousse, this is always well received when I serve it. Creamy and delicious, exactly what you want from a mousse. These ones I decorated for Halloween.

10. Sunny Lemon Cheesecake

I love lemon flavoured desserts, so it was only natural that I made a Lemon Cheesecake. Again another perfect cheesecake for me. YUM!!!

11. Chocolate, Coffee, Fudge Ice Cream Cake

This is aimed at the adults, although some teens will like this to. This is a great summer dessert, can be made well in advanced and feeds many people. My mother adores this one, all leftover, if any, go to her.

12. Rocky Road Ice Cream Slice

This one is for both the young and the old. This is so simple, again, feeds many. You can serve it with or without chocolate sauce and nuts. Great outdoor barbecue food as you slice it and it can be eaten like an ice cream sandwich, no plates, no cleaning up.

13. Mocha Tiramisu

Another family recipe, this one I got from my mum. I have tried many a tiramisu and this one is still my favourite. I absolutely love the hazelnut chocolate that goes into this as it adds such a lovely crunch. I've stopped looking for any other tiramisu recipes.

This was first made for my birthday by my daughter and my nieces. Simple, tastes amazing. I love every single bite of this. A must for Nutella lovers.

16. Flourless Chocolate, Pecan and Raspberry Torte

This is my absolutely favourite flourless chocolate cake. The brandy adds a lovely flavour to it and it looks absolutely amazing. Just remember small slices as it is a rich chocolate cake.

Light and fluffy crepes filled with a tangy lemon curd. I have been making this for years now, one of my favourite desserts. Always well received.

18. Triple Chocolate Panna Cotta Mousse

This is one decadent dessert. Combining a milk chocolate mousse with a white chocolate panna cotta separating the two with a dark chocolate fudge is a match made in heaven. Absolutely delicious, but don't serve it too big, a little goes a long way,

19. Choc Vanilla Slice

This recipe has been in our family for over 30 years it is the recipe from my childhood. My mum made this for every family party we ever went to, and she still does, people always request it. So easy to make and is absolutely delicious.
