Chocolate Hazelnut Flowers
Love me, Love me not Flowers
Mother's Day is coming and these flowers would be a great gift, especially if you love puff pastry and nutella.
My daughter renamed these love me, love me not flowers as she eats them by picking off the petals like a real flower, quoting, he loves me, he loves me not. I think it's cute.
There is no real recipe here, I just watched the video, had a sheet of puff pastry, some nutella and an egg and started making these. You can make as many or as little as you like.
The hazelnuts I add, as I love them, but if you don't have them, or don't like them, don't add them, you could just add a little icing sugar in the middle instead.
You can watch the video of these being made by Cooking with Manuela here. I find watching someone cooks makes it easier.
These are cute and simple to make, perfect with coffee any time of the day.

Recipe
Recipe adapted from cookingwithmanuela.blogspot.com/
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg
1 tablespoon of water
3 tablespoons of chocolate spread, like nutella
2 tablespoons of chopped hazelnuts
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg
1 tablespoon of water
3 tablespoons of chocolate spread, like nutella
2 tablespoons of chopped hazelnuts
Remove the puff pastry from the freezer, and leave at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Heat the oven to 205C/185C fan forced.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with one tablespoon of water. Set aside.
Cut one sheet of puff pastry into 9 squares, each with a side of about 7.5 cm.
Place one square of puff pastry on a piece of baking paper (just a little bigger than the pastry).
Add one teaspoon of chocolate spread in the middle of the pastry.
Brush the edges with egg wash.
Bring the edges together, then the sides and make the pastry into a ball.
Flip the ball upside down and flatten slightly with your fingers.
Cut 8 petals out the pastry, turning each by 45 degrees - all in the same direction - so that the chocolate filling is showing.
Brush with more egg wash, and add a little bit of chopped hazelnuts in the middle of the flower. Push the hazelnuts down in the middle part of the pastry with your finger.
Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes, until golden on top.
