Cookbook Corner
I love cookbooks, my collection is large, I have currently 2292 cookbooks.
This page is going to be about the cookbooks I love to cook from. If a book makes it to this page that means I love it so much, I recommend buying it. What I mean by this is, is that I have tried loads of recipes from this book, and the recipes just work, each and every time. Yes you may tweak a recipe a little, but the base idea always works.
It wouldn't be fair to the writer of the book if I went out and used their book solely for What's Cooking Ella, so I limit myself to only a few recipes from any one cookbook.
My New Years Resolution for 2024 will be to read a cookbook a week and cook something from that book.

Janelle Bloom: My Favourite Food for all Seasons.
I'll start with Janelle Bloom. I've got a few of her cookbooks. What I find with her books is she cooks simple tasty family friendly meals. I have yet to try a recipe of hers that my family haven't loved. Examples from my site are the Veal Saltimbocca, the Eggplant Relish and the Laksa. I am very new to Asian cooking, and when I try a recipe of hers, I can honestly say I don't fear how it will turn out, they have always been great. And there is nothing worse than trying a new recipe only to be disappointed with the outcome, I have yet to experience that with this cookbook. If you want a book that gives simple uncomplicated family friendly meals, get this one.

Julie Goodwin: Our Family Table.
My next book is Julie Goodwin's cookbook. This one is very popular in our house. Her recipes all seem to work, and are loved by all of us. How I know I love this book is by all the tabbed pages I have in it. Her recipes cater for the family as a whole, I can cook one meal that both me and my husband love as well as my kids. Some of the recipes from the book I've added to my site is her fool proof Pavlova, the Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry and her amazing Fish 'n' Chips. She cooks simple yet very tasty food. Highly recommend this book.

This Australian Women's Weekly Stew Braises and Casseroles
This cookbook is amazing, I have yet to make something from it that we have not loved. If I feel like trying a new stew I will grab this book as I now know that the recipe will work and it will be a hit with my family. Some of the things I have tried are Chilli Con Carne with Corn Dumplings; Osso Buco; Beef, Barley and Mushroom Stew and Cioppino to name a few. This book allows one to cook with confidence.

Julie Goodwin: The Heart of the Home.
Another brilliant cookbook by Julie Goodwin. I have tagged this book loads of times already, each recipe has been a huge success with my family. This is definitely a book worth buying. I'd love to share loads of her recipes but that would not be nice, so go out and buy it. It is great. Some of her recipes on my website are the Pavlova Roll and the Creamy Bacon Fettuccine.

Nigella Lawson: Nigella Express
I have got all of Nigella's cookbooks, but have only really started to use them recently. I have discovered that like me, she loves simple food that tastes amazing. This book has become a favourite, I've now got quite a few bookmarks in it. Some favourites from this book are Steak Slice with Lemon and Thyme, the Cherry Cheesecake, Forgotten Pudding and Totally Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies (my all time favourite cookie).

Chrissy Teigen: Cravings
This is a must buy book. Every recipe I have tried is delicious. She's funny, and I love it. The Fish Tacos are crazy hot, but I can't stop eating them, the Chinese Chicken Salad with Fried Wonton Skins, the best salad ever and her Green Beans, delicious. I could go on. I already bought the second book, will see if I love it like I love this one.
