Now I didn't make this because it is dairy free, as we quite like milk/yoghurt based smoothies in our house, I just wanted to try something different for my kids. This was perfect on a warm afternoon. This has the consistency of a smoothie without the yoghurt/ice cream to thicken it up. It tastes thick and just so fresh and delicious. No added sugar, just the three fruits for flavour.
If your blender isn't big enough, you can make this in two batches.
I say it serves 2-3 as it depends on what glass size you use.
This I made for the kids, however, I loved it as is to, but if you like you can add 1/2 cup golden rum to it to make it an adult smoothie.
Recipe
Serves 2-3
1 ripe mango, peeled, pitted, roughly chopped
1/4 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, roughly chopped
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
3 cups ice cubes
Lime slices, to garnish
Place the mango, pineapple, orange juice and ice cubes in a blender and blitz until smooth and frothy.
Pour the smoothie into glasses, garnish with a lime slice and serve immediately.
